Leah & Mitch’s Montrose House Wedding

Leah and Mitch’s wedding at Montrose House in the Southern Highlands was one of those days that felt good from the moment I arrived.

There was such a joyful energy around everyone. Nothing felt forced or overly planned, the light was beautiful throughout the day and there were so many genuine little moments happening everywhere I looked. Exactly the kind of wedding I love photographing.

Leah looked incredible in her Martina Liana gown from True Society Sydney. The dress suited the setting perfectly and photographed beautifully in the soft light around Montrose House. Mitch wore InStitchu, and together they had that really comfortable, effortless energy that made them a pleasure to photograph.

Gathered Floral created the flowers, while Sydney Bridal Hair & Makeup looked after Leah. Montrose House styled the day beautifully and AX Weddings led the ceremony.

It was also great working alongside Craig Holbrook Wedding Films again. Craig and I have worked together many times over the years and his relaxed documentary approach always fits beautifully with the way I photograph a wedding.

What I remember most, though, is simply how lovely the whole day felt.

Leah and Mitch were such a pleasure to be around, their families and friends brought so much warmth and energy, and there was never any sense that the photography needed to take over.

That is always the goal for me. To let the day happen, pay attention to the things unfolding around me and make photographs that feel like the people in them.

Montrose House is one of those Southern Highlands venues that gives a wedding plenty of room to unfold naturally. The gardens, heritage buildings and open spaces mean there is always somewhere beautiful to photograph without needing to disappear from the wedding for long. Montrose House itself describes the property as a 33 acre estate in the Southern Highlands with established gardens, meadows, orchards and woodland.

If you are looking through venues for your own wedding, Montrose House is also included in my guide to DIY wedding venues in the Southern Highlands and South Coast.

If you would like to see more of the way I photograph weddings in this part of NSW, you can also explore my Southern Highlands wedding photography throughout the rest of the site.

Leah and Mitch, thank you for having me there. It was such a joy to photograph your Montrose House wedding and spend the day with you both.
