Jessica and Simon had a beautiful Headlands Hotel wedding. The venue is surrounded by amazing beaches and jurassic seascapes as far as the eye can see.

Q&A: Headlands Hotel Wedding

Why did you choose the Headlands Hotel for your wedding?

The Headlands Hotel was exactly what we were looking for to host our wedding. My husband & I both knew we wanted to get married somewhere on the coast next to the beach. We looked at several places within a few hours of home (Canberra) and as soon as we walked up the stairs at the Headlands, we knew it was the one. The view is absolutely amazing, the food was incredible and the staff was delightful to deal with. It ticked all of our boxes and more and after meeting with the wedding co-ordinator, we knew we were in good hands.

What was the theme you were going for on the day?

Our goal was to make our guests feel the same way we do when we are at the coast and enjoy a beautiful day with lots of delicious food, drinks and lots of dancing. For the styling, we wanted something simple/affordable while making sure to incorporate the beautiful summer florals. Mixtures of dried and greenery arrangements with pops of pink & apricots ended up being used.

Any specials moments that you won’t forget that happened?

There were so many special moments that will never forget… it’s very hard to choose one in particular, but if we would have to say a moment, it would be how we felt when we joined hands at the start of the ceremony, it was very intimate in amongst the trees down at Glastonbury gardens.

Did you have any standout wedding vendors?

Stand out wedding vendors.. We would like to give a special shout out to Katie from Owl & PussyCat Events. From our first conversation I knew I was in capable hands. She was so easy and lovely to talk with and knew exactly what I had in mind. From helping arrange the set-up of the reception to creating the most beautiful floral bouquets and floral decorations, the lead up to our day was stress free and it was a big part in making our dream wedding come to life.

What did you think of your photographer?

The photographer was absolutely amazing. Dan sure knows how to take a photo, his work is absolutely amazing.

My husband is not really into having photos taken and wasn’t keen on doing the really intimate shots in front of a new person floating around with a camera in hand. It took about 2 minutes for Simon (my husband) to feel comfortable in front of Dan and his camera. He managed to keep Simon’s nerves in check for the whole post ceremony photo session. Mostly with his witty sense of humour and a quick word of advise on how to “Go with the flow”. This made it so much more fun than we both thought it would be!

Dan was easy to get along with and made our wedding day stress free. It wasn’t ever awkward, he made it fun and we couldn’t wipe the smile off our faces the entire day. At the ceremony we didn’t have to worry about anything, Dan just did his thing.

The wedding photos arrived so quickly and my gosh, they’re absolutely beautiful. You normally have a few favourites, we have dozens!! Thanks so much for your incredible work and being a part of our special day. We would recommend Dan to everyone.

If you had to do it all again what would you do differently?

If we had to do it all again, I don’t think there would be anything we would change. I have to say that we had the most amazing day and wish we could replay it over again.
